This 8,063 square foot, Mediterranean-styled home is in The Saguaro Forest, a gated ''village'' inside Desert Mountain, an 8,200 acre, mature, gated, private golf and recreational club master planned development on the northern edge of Scottsdale, AZ, about a fifty-minute drive north from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. The home is at an elevation of about 3,285' and features six bedrooms (including one in a two-room attached casita; the other room in the casita is a living room/kitchenette) in a split bedroom, Kitchen/Family Room plan. It also includes a formal dining room with a huge, stone fireplace; an executive office with extensive built-ins, a media room, an exercise room, a wine storage room, double master closets, double master water closets, a master bedroom sitting area with fireplace; two two-car garages, and a 180 degree-wide back patio view from south-to-west-to north including the McDowell Mountains, a generous portion of nighttime city lights on the Valley floor, numerous mountain ranges, a large wash well below the home and running away from it (which creates opportunities for wildlife viewing), and unobstructable, spectacular sunset viewing every night of the year. Current or future rooflines on neighboring lots will be below the home's current view corridors, so what you see now is what you'll see always. It is a wonderful home for two people by themselves, or a full-scale family reunion. It does not overlook a road and is far enough away from any busy road to make traffic noise a non-issue. The "private golf and recreational club" mentioned above is The Desert Mountain Club. Being a member of it is a significant part of the attraction of living in Desert Mountain for most property owners. The Club is the emotional, physical, and social "core" of the place. Membership is not included in the purchase price of the home but is available through an application process and is optional. The Desert Mountain Club is rightfully internationally famous as a year 'round, private spa and golf mecca, with seven clubhouses, nine dining venues, six eighteen-hole championship Jack Nicklaus Signature courses, four practice ranges, a high-tech golf performance center, and, as of Spring 2019, a seventh course, a serious eighteen-hole par-3 course. One of the Clubhouses is the Sonoran Clubhouse, a truly amazing swim (three pools), tennis (nine courts, including one grass, five Har-Tru, and three cushioned surface hard courts), fitness, spa, and dining facility. It enjoyed a $12,000,000 renovation in 2016. The following summer saw six pickleball courts, two bocce ball courts, and two croquet courts added. It is now perhaps the premier facility of its type in the entire Southwest. The Club's dining venues offer a wide variety of food, wine, and atmospheres. No coats and ties required! A tremendous range of non-golf outdoor recreation and social activities are also available. The Club's membership is catered to relentlessly by an attentive Club staff and Concierge, providing unparalleled service. In a word, the place is "phenomenal". It is so good, three multi-million-dollar lottery winners have chosen Desert Mountain over the years as the place they want to live. Desert Mountain, started in 1986, is in the foothills of the Continental Mountains at elevations ranging from 2,600 to 4,500' ASL, about a forty-five-minute drive north of downtown Phoenix. It is a place of surpassing scenic beauty with long-range, panoramic views of Phoenix, Scottsdale, the entire "Valley of the Sun", many mountain ranges near and far, and, of course, Arizona's famous sunrises and sunsets! It now has about 1,900 finished homes ranging in size from 1,800 to over 20,000 square feet and in price from about $700,000 to over $10,000,000. It has attracted full-and part-time residents from all over North America and western Europe. It also has a fifteen-mile hiking, biking, and equestrian trail system in the mountains at the back of the property up to 4,890' ASL for the use of all residents. Day-to-day shopping needs for Desert Mountain owners are well-handled within about a ten-minute drive by the merchants in the nearby towns of Carefree and Cave Creek. There are 69 restaurants and bars within about sixteen minutes' drive. The Phoenix/Scottsdale area is famous for world-class shopping, major league and collegiate sports, terrific air service, and a wide variety of cultural attractions. Desert Mountain is within two and a half hours of normally excellent snow skiing in Flagstaff. Its location in the southwestern part of the United States affords easy access to the entire American West, with especially easy access to San Diego, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, and a plethora of unbelievably beautiful places in Southern Utah. "Paradise" doesn't overstate it. For those who might think Arizona's summertime temperatures to be too high to enjoy a home here in the summer, it would be useful to know Desert Mountain's daytime high temperatures are typically about ten degrees cooler than what is normally associated with Phoenix, due to the development being nominally 2,000 feet higher than the Phoenix Airport at 1,137' ASL, where official temperatures are recorded. Typically, we see temperatures over 100 degrees only ten or twelve days year, compared to over ninety such days at the Phoenix Airport. So, not cold, but not a big deal, especially when the low humidity is factored in. At night in the summer, temperatures quickly drop when the sun goes down, as much as fifteen to twenty degrees cooler than what the airport records. It is cooler in the winter, of course, but daytime winter activities are rarely affected. Because of this, Desert Mountain has become a very active, twelve-month a year community. Being higher and somewhat removed from the city means the stars are bright at night and the air is much cleaner than what lies over the Valley. Against this backdrop of privacy, service, beauty and recreation, Saguaro Forest 180 represents an unusually nice opportunity and value. The owners have maintained it well over the years using professional property management and have put it in impeccable shape for new owners, including fresh interior paint and a soon-to-be-completed re-do of the garage's epoxy floor. Thanks for your interest in this home. We look forward to showing it to you someday and helping you learn about the community, the Club, and the area! In the meantime, enjoy the photographs and video of the home, and the photographs of some of the Desert Mountain Club's facilities. We'd also be happy to supply links to a few relevant websites if you like.
